Happo-One / ◎170cm / Snowy2022.Jan.03

22010301_happoThe top of the resort was above the clouds, and soft light was bathing the slopes while a brisk north wind was carrying light, falling snow. A large contingent of powder hounds (pictured) was waiting for the 8:30 start of the Alpen Quad. The New Year holiday period meant that each slope area of the resort was lively from the start of the morning.

22010302_happoThere was around 30 to 40cm of fluffy, fresh snow in the ungroomed areas alongside the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair (pictured) and the Alpen Quad. The snow had been slightly windswept, but I was able to stay afloat on the powdery surface and avoid bottoming out for a proper, fun powder run!

[Kurobishi]

22010303_happoOver on the groomed areas alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad and the Skyline Course (pictured), the moderately firm powder snow surfaces were topped off with light new snow, and great for enjoying a few speedy runs. I did encounter some fog along the Skyline Course from time to time, but it wasn’t enough to be a bother.

[Skyline Course]

22010304_happoThe snow surface on the steep section of Kitaone (pictured) was packed tightly, and the undulations and bumps were topped by around 15cm of new snow. The groomed Kitaone Forest Cat Track and the Sakka Slope were in fantastic, packed powder condition. By the way, the Adventure Park Sakka (10:00-16:00, admission JPY1,000) is now open daily until 1/11 (Tue.). (※After the 11th, the park will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.)
