The Riesen Grat Course, located at the top of the resort, opened today! The first half (pictured) featured 6 to 10cm of fresh snow covering a moderately firm, groomed packed-powder surface. At around 8:00, it was raining lightly at the base of the mountain, but dry snow was falling at the top of the resort amongst a rolling fog.

On the second half of the course (pictured), the portion alongside the lift was groomed, with a relatively firm wet snow surface topped off with 6 to 10cm of new snow, and the remainder left ungroomed. I enjoyed a few fun runs on the ungroomed areas, which were covered in around 15cm of fluffy, new snow. It was firmly-groomed, wet snow conditions on Usagidaira and Riesen, with roughly 5cm of new stop on top.

Today, 12/25 (Sat.), and tomorrow, 12/25 (Sun.), a BLASTRACK & OGASAKA SKI TEST RIDE (pictured, 9:30－, free, ID required) event is being held in front of the Usagidaira Terrace. All 2021-22 winter models are on hand, and you can test as many as you want, for up to 30 minutes each. As of 9:45, around 50 people had taken advantage of the opportunity to test ride.

Hakuba-based glove brand DSP was also set up inside the event booth, giving people the chance to test out their mittens (pictured, right) and three-finger gloves (pictured, left). (＊MSRP JPY21,890, inclusive of tax, sizes S・M・L・LL) Customers who purchase a pair between 12/25 (Sat.) and 12/31 (Fri.) will receive a complimetary, matching leather coin purse. In other news, a seprate ID ONE Test Ride Event is being held over on the Nakiyama Slope (9:00－, JPY1,000 with advance registration, JPY1,500 for same-day registration, ID required).
