Happo-One / ○105cm / Sunny2021.Dec.23
Over the last two days, Nakiyama and the southern portion of Shirakaba opened, and now Happo has officially opened up more than 50% of its terrain. Skies this morning were calm and blue, and the trees from the mid to upper portions of the resort were covered in a thin layer of hoarfrost. The sun falling on their delicate white branches made for a fascinatingly beautiful sight.

Conditions were great on the Panorama Course (pictured), where the groomed slope surface was composed of well-packed powder snow! I took advantage of the conditions to enjoy a few fast runs. As is often the case, many visitors seemed to be heading to Riesen first thing in the morning, leaving Panorama relatively empty, giving me the opportunity to make the most of my time there.

The groomed areas alongside the Kurobishi 2 Quad (pictured) and on Usagidaira had similarly great, packed powder conditions. I noticed quite a few people skiing non-stop from top to bottom during the morning. Along the Alpen Quad and Kurobishi 3 Pair, 3cm of light, fresh snow sat atop the soft, uneven surface marked by old tracks.

Once again, the groomed Skyline Course featured a firmly-packed, powder snow surface. As a reminder, this weekend there will be a BLASTRACK & OGASAKA SKI TEST RIDE event held in front of the Usagidaira Terrace (9:30〜, free to participate, ID required). Over on Nakiyama there will be an ID ONE Test Ride taking place (9:00〜, ¥1,000 in advance, ¥1,500 day of, ID required).
