Happo-one / ×3cm / Snowy2021.Nov.12

The light snow that fell yesterday quickly died down, but things picked back up again last night after midnight, and by morning Riesen Grat, Kurobishi and Usagidaira (pictured) were once again covered in white. Conditions at 7:30 a.m. had around 2 to 3cm of accumulation at the tops of Usagidaira and Kurobishi. Winds were light, and the snow coming down was wet and dense.

A little later on, the westerly winds intensified and the white stuff began to come down harder as well. When I returned to my car, parked in front of Cafeteria Kurobishi for around an hour, there seemed to be about 2cm of fresh snow covering the roof. Even as it got later in the day, the temperature was dropping, and I found myself getting more and more excited.

Over on Skyline, by around 9:00 a.m. there was between 1 and 2cm of fresh snow accumulated where there had been none at 7:30 a.m. Later, as I lost elevation on the way down, the snow turned to sleet around the Kitaone Traverse Cat Track and by the bottom of Olympic Course II it was full-on rain. The current forecast is again calling for a spell of intermittent cold temperatures throughout the morning tomorrow.
