It was a warm, calm morning where even the pre-dawn temperature never dipped below freezing. The groomed, loose granular snow surface of the Panorama Course (pictured) was a bit soft from the outset – giving ski edges plenty of grip. It was a pleasant morning for laying down tracks on the wide-open slope.

From the start of business staff of the 75th Annual Riesen Slalom Competition were preparing for the event, while athletes were busy warming up, and just as the Alpen Quad opened there seemed to be a steady stream of traffic around the Usagidaira area. The firmly groomed granular snow on Usagidaira (pictured) was perfect for gaining speed.

Once again this morning, along the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured), despite the granular surface snow, the fine particles composing it made for good conditions. I was mesmerized by the smooth, rhythmical turns displayed by the advanced skiers taking laps via the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad, and grateful for the warm reception from participants of the Slalom Competition and other customers who greeted me again today with familiar refrains such as, “I always use your site! Take my picture!”

The snow of the groomed center portion of the Skyline Course (pictured) was a rough, loose granular type to start the day, but as more and more skiers and boarders rode down its face, the surface began to loosen up and smooth out by the end of the run. Along the Alpen Quad, the steep portion of Kitaone and the Central Course there were large, deep moguls. Conditions were spring-like over on Sakka and Shirakaba with slushy, dirty snow.
