The low air pressure staying in the south brought much snow in the south areas of Japan. Although it was forecast to be snowy, there was just 10cm fresh snow even on the top area as we expected that we do not have a lot of snow in this pressure pattern. This morning, the gondola did not start at scheduled time, so staffs of lifts could not go up to the mountain and Alpen Quad and Kurobishi No.2 Quad were finally open after 9:00 a.m.

It had been warm these days, so the 10cm fresh snow on the firm groomed slope of Riesen Slalom was wet and heavy a little. 5 people from Kanto and Chukyo Area (Photo) gave me a greeting, “We always check your reports! We are facing to this hard situation due to Coronavirus…”

The snow condition remained almost same in the lower part of Riesen Slalom Course and the groomed slope was firm with the wet heavy 5cm fresh snow. It was in difficult condition because my skis ran well on the old snow while they got stuck on the fresh snow. However, I saw experts skiing down smoothly with beautiful turns.
