The cold air mass approaching yesterday afternoon brought heavy snow today! In Usagidaira, there was no wind and the dry snow was falling silently. It was freezing even in the bottom area, so I went to the lower Central Course to enjoy powder snow.
[Panorama Course]
I enjoyed skiing on the groomed snow topped with 15~20 cm of light fresh snow on Panorama Course (pictured in the first photo). There was about 40 cm of deep fresh snow on the non-groomed run of Olympic Course I (pictured). I felt like I was floating!
[Olympic Course I]
The groomed snow was moderately firm on Central Course, blanketed with about 15 cm of deep new snow. A skier was shouting “Awesome!”, skiing the steep wide slope. The groomed snow was nicely firm on Shirakaba Slope too, covered with 10~15 cm of new snow.
[Central Course]
I took Gondola to the ungroomed steep run of “Sodeguro” on the north side of Usagidaira to enjoy about 50 cm of new snow. The first Alpen Quad departed five minutes late this morning, and there were already some trails when I arrived. There were a few people this morning probably because the government declared a state of emergency. The fresh snow still remained even after an hour passed.
