Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort has started the winter season and opened Panorama Course! The snow got weaker in the daytime yesterday, however, it became heavily snowy from the last night and there was about 20cm deep fresh snow this morning. In Panorama Course, the north side (Photo) which has a width of 3 piste crawlers and the south side which has a width of 2 of them were groomed and other areas kept fresh snow as they were.

In the off-piste areas, the layer of soft powdery snow was 50 – 60cm deep in the middle part of the south. People looked to enjoy the feeling of floating on the natural snow and made shouts of joy sometimes (Photo). Although only 1 course is open now, the slope has a width of 400m and wide enough, so we never fed up.

By the way, the amount of snow jumped up to “145cm” at 10:37 a.m. from “94cm” at 7:18 a.m, according to the official announcement. The patrol staff said, “Until this morning, we guessed the amount of Kurobishi by that of Usagidaira. However, when we measured the amount at Kurobishi today, the area had even 145cm snow actually.”

The groomed slopes were nicely soft with the natural snow, but some parts of the lower slope were a little bit hard because of the artificial snow. We appreciate to all for finding us and giving us greetings and cheers even though the ski area was in thick fogs. Tomorrow, the slopes of Usagidaira and Kurobishi will be open, so Alpen Quad and Kurobishi No.2 Quad will start the operations!
