“Spring First Track” event is held today, May 3 (Fri), and tomorrow, May 4 (Sat)! You can access to Usagidaira (shown in the photo) and Kurobishi by Gondola, which will be operated from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. (Open from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., both regular ticket and event ticket (500 yen) are required). The first day was blessed with great weather without wind.
[Usagidaira Slope]
I saw advanced skiers/snowboarders descending at high speed on the southern side of Usagidaira (shown in the first photo), which was covered with firm, compacted, granular snow. Granular snow was nicely firm along Kurobishi No.2 Quad too and I enjoyed making big and small turns as freely as I wanted.
[Kurobishi Slope]
“I’m checking Snownavi website every day. My son (a man on the left side of the photo) gives me a ride of 850 km (one way) when he’s on winter/spring holiday. I didn’t expect such great snow during the Golden Week!”, a man from Shimanto, Kochi (on the right of the photo) said.
[Riesen Grat Course]
Happo was crowded from the early morning as it’s a national long holiday and we had great snow on the slope. Skiers/snowboarders left beautiful tracks one after another on the firm, compacted Panorama Course, as Gondola restarted operation at 7:30 and Kokusai No.3 Pair and Panorama Pair started at 7:40.
