“I enjoy your reports. It’s great to have snow this season, isn’t it? It’s totally fun to go on the white slope!”, two snowboarders from Yamanashi said. The snow surface had melted and been dirty as it had been warm, rainy and windy. However, the slope turned white again as we’ve got snow last night.

Small snowflakes were whirling in the fog at the upper area and it was hard to see 20m ahead. There was 2-3 cm of wet fresh snow covering the firm, flat granular snow on the southern side of Usagidaira and the area along Kurobishi No.2 Quad. My skis edges cut into the snow well and I could run smoothly.

“Thank you for everything this season! We gonna have a welcome camp with freshmen for two days,” members of White Locus Ski Club at Kyoto Institute of Technology. Risen was closed after Apr. 24 (Wed) due to snowmelt. It has been chilly and snowy from the end of March to the beginning of April. The amount of snow was announced to reach 175 cm at the upper area, which was 45 cm more compared to that of last year. Grat, Kurobishi, Usagidaira, Skyline and Panorama Slope are still open, blessed with plenty of snow”

By the way, you may want to try pizza “Romana (2,100 yen including a salad bowl and a cup of drink)” at Karuizawa Primo. The tomato sauce containing anchovies goes perfect with the umami of black olives, the flavor of garlic chips and the sourness of fresh tomatoes. You can also enjoy special drinks, such as black pearl tea (the right side of the photo, 650 yen) and Karuizawa beer.
