It was windy at the foot in the early morning, however, it calmed down by 8 am, when Gondola started operation. The wind calmed down around Usagidaira Terrace too and there was only a gentle wind. Small snowflakes were fluttering at the upper area, riding on the wind. It was a bit foggy sometimes.
[Usagidaira Slope]
The starting area of the southern groomed side of Usagidaira was hard. Meanwhile, the middle and last area was nicely firm, covered with a thin layer of fresh snow. There was about 10 cm of fresh snow on the hard non-compacted slope along Alpen Quad (as shown in the photo). The snow was crusted last night because of the strong wind and it was technically difficult to go down.
[Usagidaira Slope]
Fresh snow was nicely firm on the flat Panorama Course. My ski edges cut into the snow well and I enjoyed making turns as I liked. I saw many advaced skiers & snowboarders on the southern side of Kokusai No.3 Pair and intermediate & beginners on the northern side.
[Panorama Course]
The powder snow was groomed and nicely firm as I went down Central Course. Shirakaba Slope was also firm and covered with powder snow. I enjoyed gaining speeds on my way to Gondola Base Station.
