Happo One / ◎200cm / Snowy2019.Jan.21

19012101_happoWe had heavy snow last night as I had expected under the influence of winter atmospheric pattern. Thus, the amount of snow was officially announced to reach over 200 cm for the first time after Jan.12 (Sat)! The soft sunlight sometimes cast over the slope at the upper area. Meanwhile, my visibility sometimes got poor because the strong wind stirred up the fresh snow.

19012102_happoI found over 40 cm of soft powder snow on the steep slope along Kurobishi No.3 Pair. It was a bit packed by wind, however, I enjoyed a floating feeling without having a bottom feeling. I heard people raising a cloud of snow and shouting for joy.

19012103_happoSlope covered with powder snow was filled with tracks in a short time as it was a weekday in January. “We enjoy your reports!”, two skiers coming from Tokyo said. Fresh snow lied 1-2 cm deep on the compacted area along Kurobishi No.2 Quad and I enjoyed making turns.

19012104_happoThe 30-40 cm of soft powder snow was great on the non-compacted area along Skyline Course. There was 25-30 cm of fresh snow on the hard ups and downs on the steep slope of Kitaone Course (as shown in the photo), which was technically difficult to ski down. On the other hand, the compacted Kitaone Rindo Course and Sakka Slope were firm and great.
