Happo one / ◎185cm / Snowy2019.Jan.18
The snow from last night calmed down this morning. Panorama, Usagidaira, Kurobishi, Skyline, Riesen Grat, and Gondola have been suspended since yesterday. On the other hand, the lifts of Nakiyama, Shirakaba and Sakka; Kokusai No.1 Pair, Happo Riesen Quad, and Sakka Kitaone Quad started operation on time at 8 a.m.
[Oympic CourseⅡ]
Olympic Course Ⅱ is the north-facing steep slope at the lower area. About half of the slope was groomed, while the other half was non-groomed, on the skier’s right side of the Olympic Course. About 20-25 cm of soft fresh snow lied on the big firm moguls at the non-groomed area. There was a bottom feeling, however, many advanced skiers & snowboarders went down smoothly on the moguls.
[Olympic CourseⅡ]
There was some fresh snow driven by the wind on the first half compacted area of the Olympic CourseⅡ. On the other hand, the second half part was nicely firm (as shown in the photo). They are both covered with powder snow and nice.
[Olympic CourseⅡ]
The wind was still blowing past 10 a.m. and the lifts remained suspended from the middle to upper area. The fresh snow went away in no time at Kokusai Slope. About 20 cm of fresh snow lied on the big moguls at Central Course, same as Olympic CourseⅡ, which was technically difficult to go down. I enjoyed making turns at the firmly groomed Shirakaba Slope.
