Happo One / ◎165cm / Snowy2019.Jan.05

19010501_happoThe cold that lasted for a long time from Dec.28 (Fri) finally abated. However, it was snowy again this morning. At the upper area, it was snowing hard on the gentle wind. Many people arrived early as it was a weekend, however, it was nice that there was no lift waiting line as people scattered in the wide slope.

19010502_happoThe starting area of the Southern Usagidaira was compacted and a bit hard. Overall, it was nicely firm and I enjoyed going down on the 5cm of fresh snow. Among all, the flat area along Kurobishi No.2 Quad was nicely firm and the best. On the other hand, the steep along Alpen Quad was difficult to slide as firm moguls were covered by snow.

19010503_happoAs I entered into Central Course through the flat Panorama Course with 3cm of fresh snow, I found firm moguls there. My legs got puffy just after sliding one time as about 3 cm of fresh snow on the surface was really soft. The compact Shirakaba Slope had 2 cm of wet fresh snow on the surface, however, my skis ran well.

19010504_happo“First J skis/Elevated SurfCraft Trial”, which is hosted by Skibum Shokai, is held in front of Usagidaira Terrace today and tomorrow (8:30 – 13:30, last entry at 13:00).
