There is a big difference in the amount of snow between the upper area and the lower area of the ski area this season and the lower areas are being closed earlier than usual. Skyline, Kitaone 3 (HAPPO BANKS) and Shirakaba were already closed on Apr.8 (Sun). Thus, only the route from Riesen to Nakiyama is available for descending. 6 people from Yamanashi and Kanagawa Pref. said, “Hi Snownavi! Could you take our photo, please? We’re coming to enjoy the spring Happo and it’s great!”

All of the available courses: Riesen Glat, Kurobishi, Usagidaira, Riesen, Panorama, and Nakiyama, were covered in white again thanks to the heavy snow that fell until last night. Usagidaira was well-groomed and nicely firm and not granular snow. My edges worked well and I enjoyed riding under the beautiful weather.

The groomed area along Kurobishi Quad, which faces north, was neither granular and the quality of snow was pretty good. It was firmer than Usagidaira and the skis ran well and I enjoyed gaining speed. While there were only a few people at the steep slope along Kurobishi 3 in the early morning.

Starbucks coffee is available at “Happo Usagidaira Cafe” (*Dipping Dots Icecream is on sale as well). You can enjoy familiar coffee, including Caffe Latte (460 yen), Caffe Mocha (540 yen) and Cappuccino (460 yen, as shown in the photo). They are all served, using the same kinds of coffee beans and machines as those used in a Starbucks shop.
