The snow on the lower area of the ski area has been melting rapidly since the middle of March. The route from Riesen Slalom Course to either Nakiyama or Shirakaba has been only available for descending since Apr.1 (Sun). In addition, HAPPO BANKS and Skyline Course will be also closed this weekend, on Apr.8 (Sun), as Skyline 2, Kitaone 3, Sakka Kitaone Quad will finish the operation.

Although there was spring haze, it’s been sunny for 11 days in a row. There was no wind and I started to feel hot just after the opening. The groomed slope of the southern side of Usagidaira was slushy and very soft even before the open.

The area along Kurobishi Quad was nicely groomed and soft. My skis ran well and I enjoyed making turns as I imagined. Moguls on the steep slope along Kurobishi 3 and Alpen Quad were melted soft and I could try easily.

Riesen Slalom Course was melted very soft and I felt the snow heavy as I tried to make turns. At the middle of the course, some parts turned into the earth color and I saw ground uncovered at the lower area of Usuba (as shown in the photo). Moreover, the access-trail to Shirakaba was melting very rapidly. So I am wondering if it will remain available till this weekend.
