Because of the spring storm, only 7 lifts began operation in the morning; Namiyama 2 &3, Happo Riesen Quad, Shirakaba 1 & 2, Sakka 2 & 3. When I came to Usagidaira before 8:00 a.m. by Riesen Quad, which start the operation earlier than usual for Riesen Slalom Competition, the wind blew more strongly than I had expected at the bottom.

A skier who has finished course inspection said, “The ski slope was in better condition than yesterday, but the wind was very strong.” As he said, the upper part of Riesen was in snowstorm too. The strong wind made us to fall and it got whiteout many times. The members of Hakuba Happo-one Ski School & Snowboard School prepared hard for the competition.

Because of the strong wind at Panorama, I managed to set cameras, but two people from Kanagawa were hard to take a pose. 15 cm of the fresh snow was blew off because of the wind.

Groomed Panorama and Central were hard, and the wet snow covered the slope in spots. It was not in good condition to ski, because of the wind. When I skied down to Shirakaba and Nakiyama, the wind really stopped and the slopes were hard.
