Happo-one / ◎400cm / Snowy2018.Feb.06

Thanks to the snowfall since the day before yesterday, the amount of the snow was 400 cm according to the official announcement. When I took off the gondola, the dry snow fell without wind. The temperature was -11 degrees and the trees above Usagidaira was completely white because of the frost.

The groomed area at Usagidaira was nicely firm and covered with 5 cm fresh snow and I could make turns as I imagined. I went to Usagidaira New Course, the steep slope at the north side of Alpen Quad. The snowfall in the morning was less than I had expected, it was about 20 cm.

Although the bottom was a little bit rough, the snow was powdery and soft, so I enjoyed the powder run. Some advanced riders ran down the slope with a spray of snow and took Alpen Quad many times.

Panorama Course and Olympic Courses 2 were groomed nicely firm and covered with 3-5cm of fresh snow, so it was in good condition to ski. I could ski fast and comfortably at Shirakaba, the bottom part of the ski slope, where 3cm of the light and fresh snow covered the firm powdery slope.
