Dry snow fell a little bit last night and it was cloudy but comfortable morning with soft sunlight. The official amount of snow of March, 2017 is more than twice of last year. There are plenty of snow with more than 300 cm (* The snow amount was 150 cm on same day of last year.) and the view from Alpen Quad tells it.

The south slope of Usagidaira was groomed flat and nicely firm. The run was in powdery condition and edges of my skis were working so well that I could make short and long turns freely. The visitors turnout slower than high season but the intermediates and the experts were starting to skiing and snowboarding one after another.

Panorama Course and Olympic Course 2 was equally good as Usagidaira and I could make turns comfortably. As I skied down to the last part of Olympic Course 2, the run became firmer and thin fresh snow became damp.

“IVSI Congress 2017 HAKUBA” is holding 8 days from March 19 to March 26 at Nakiyama. In a-week-long convention, about 500 ski and snowboard instructors exchange experiences, discuss the methods of teaching and coaching, and share their knowledge through demonstrations and workshops on the snow as well as in conferences and lectures.
