The sun cast the sunlight sometimes in the early morning, but the clouds got thicker and thicker as time passed. As of 10:00 a.m, it was snowing when I got of Alpen Quad lift. It was windless and not so cold. In Usagidaira and Panorama Course, I found many skiers practicing toward “The 71st Happo-one Riesen Slalom Competition”.

The groomed areas in the south of Usagidaira and along Kurobishi No.2 Quad were nicely firm and in good condition. I was impressed by the skillful turns by experts.

Riesen Slalom Competitiom, a traditional ski race in the totally 2,500m slope, had started at 9:00 a.m. There are a lot of entries of various generations, so the divisions are classified by ages. This competition will last until tomorrow. There is also an open division.

Riesen Slalom was nicely firm and good to speed up. The participants went down in front of us fast. As I skied down to the bottom, the snow changed into corn snow from the lower area of Usuba.
