It was very cold again, -9 degrees, after the warm weather yeasterday. Besides, it was blowing a north cold wind, so my hands holding a camera got numb soon. The lifts in the upper area from Alpen Quad and Skyline No.2 Pair suspended the operation because of the strong wind, so I went toward Riesen Slalom Course.

Riesen Slalom was groomed as well as usual, nicely firm and flat. The edges of my skis worked well, so I could make turns as I imagined. By the way, the thin fresh snow blew by the wind covered the beginning part on the skier’s left.

Small hard snow balls were increasing as I skied down, but it did not matter to skiing. Riesen Slalom is one of the most popular slopes and besides, the lifts in the upper areas were closed, so the slope got covered with many ski tracks soon. “The 71st Riesen Slalom Competition” will be held here on Mar. 2 and Mar. 3.

The south part of Nakiyama was flat but hard. After that, the weather got better and we could see the blue sky in the lower parts. The gondola had started the operation at 9:20 a.m.
