Even though today was a weekday in January, there was a good turnout from the early morning and many ski tracks had been made on the slopes soon at around 8:30 a.m. The sun was casting the soft sunlight, but it was blowing a chilly wind, so I felt cold in Riesen Grat, Usagidaira and Kurobishi.

The week from Jan. 15 (Sun) to Jan. 21 (Sat) is “The 39th Nagano Ski Competition Week”. In the south part of Panorama Course, “Nagano Junior High School Championships Ski Competition” on Jan. 16 (Mon), “Nagano High School Ski Championships” on Jan. 17 (Tue), 19 (Thu), “National Sports Festival Ski Competition Preliminary of Nagano” on Jan. 20 (Fri) have been held.

The groomed slopes of Usagidaira, Kurobishi and Panorama were firm and good to ski with high speed. However, participants in the competition were practicing hard in Panorama Course and the run got a little rough at 9:00 a.m.

The lower groomed areas such as Olympic Course Ⅱ, Central, Shirakaba and Sakka were quiet, so they still remained fresh with corduroy pattern even at 9:30 a.m. The snow was very good as well as that in the upper part, so it looked good to ski from the top to the bottom by gondola again and again.
