Because of the big cold wave, we have had new snowfalls of 25cm, 35cm, 25cm, 60cm, 50cm every day since Jan. 10 (Tue) and 40cm today. The snow falling heavily abated for a while at around 7:30 a.m. Panorama Course was groomed well and covered with 10cm fresh snow.

Central Course was open yesterday and the ungroomed area on the skier’s left side had 30cm fluffy snow! There was bumps under the fresh snow, but experts made skillful turns, controlling there gears well. People started to ski and snowboard from the early morning today as well, so many ski tracks had been made soon 40 minutes after the opening.

The slope on the skier’s right was groomed and nicely soft. While it was very cold, -13 degrees, and it blew a strong wind from the summit sometimes, the awesome powdery snow made us excited still.

I could enjoy the soft feel of the groomed slope in Shirakaba. By the way, today is “Ski Kids Day” and children under 12 years old are free of charge. The lifts in the upper part such as Alpen Quad were finally open after 11:00 a.m. because of the strong wind.
