Long-awaited “Powday” has come finally!! We had over 40cm fresh snow in front of JR Hakuba Station. Happo Gondola started the operation at 8:00 a.m. on schedule, but the lifts in the upper parts were late for opening. At first, Panorama, Riesen Slalom and Nakiyama were open this early morning.

The slopes of Panorama and Riesen Slalom were covered with fresh snow. While Panorama and the south part of Kokusai No.3 Pair were groomed earlier, so they had 30cm fresh snow, the north part which was groomed later had over 60cm snowfall!! It was so much snow that it was difficult to ski with high speed.

However, the deep powdery snow made us excited greatly! I heard shouts of joy from everywhere and people from Australia were also enjoying snowboarding. Thanks to this heavy snow, Sakka No.2 Pair and Sakka No.3 Triple will be open today!

A patrol said that it was difficult to open Alpen Quad, but people made a long line in front of the lift one after another. By the way, “Ride with Travis Rice in HAKUBA VALLEY” is held today in Usagidaira. After the free riding event, an autograph session will be held at a special tent in front of Usagidaira Terrace as well.
