It was a bit cloudy and mild in the morning. A father told me, “I’ve taught my son (the man on the left of the picture) to ski, and he skis much better than me now. Moreover, he has won the technical prize.” (How happy he is as a father!) In addition, I heard no ski resort has opened in Ishikawa, which they live in, because of the lack of snow.

Because of the low temperature and the slight sunlight, the wide and flat slope along the Kurobishi No.2 quad was covered with powder snow and firm. I could use edges of my skis well, and enjoy skiing down with speed. I saw advanced skiers making tracks one after another.

The center part of Skyline Course was also groomed well and flat. However, the amount of snow was not enough and I saw rise and fall of the ground in some places. The area along the Kita-one No.3 quad was not groomed. There were small moguls which were nicely firm, in the upper area.

A skier who rode on the Sakka-kita-one quad first was also from Ishikawa prefecture. He told me “I have a season ticket for the ski slopes in Ishikawa, however, they haven’t opened yet. That’s why I’ve come to Happo, which is one of my favorites.” By the way, for your information, No.8 parking area (beside Sakka Slope) was not full at 9:00 am, although it was a beginning of the year.
