In Hakuba Norikura, there is an excitiing spot called Self-responsibility Area! We went into the trees on the north side after getting off No.3 High Speed Pair Lift with an expectation of good powdery snow falling last night. The amount of the fresh snow reached 40cm deep there and we could enjoy quick but thrilling tree runs.

This area leads you to Rabbit Course (Photo) along No.5 High Speed Pair which starts its operation at 1:00 p.m. The nicely firm slope was covered with 20-25cm fresh snow and its wide slope was good for easy powder runs. The groomed slope of Wakaguri Chuo was nicely soft and topped with 2cm fluffy snow as well.

Those areas around No.9 Pair, on the west side of No.10 Pair and the slope from No.3 High Speed Pair to upper Family Course (Photo) are also off-piste areas of Self-responsibility Course. By the way, the upper part of Highway Course was nicely firm and the lower part had 25-30cm fluffy snow.

A family from Kagawa Prefecture talked, “We come to Hakuba Norikura at least once a year. This year is good for skiing because the slopes are not busy and the snow is amazing! Tomorrow, we will go back home on a 10 hour trip.” Hakunori Family Course was nicely soft as well and its groomed slope was covered with 3cm fresh snow.
