A couple from Osaka Pref. (Photo) talked this morning, “We always check your reports! We were surprised because it was rainy when we woke up this morning…. It changed to snowy after that, so we came out to go snowboarding, but it is raining again….” At the base area of Satomi Area on the elevation of 750 meters, it was on the border between the snow and rain.

Big snowflakes were falling down heavily on the beginning part of Highway Course on the elevation of 1,100 meters. There was 5cm wet fresh snow on the off-piste areas on the sides. The groomed area (Photo) was in difficult condition with the mixed snow of the new and old one, so my skis sometimes got stuck there.

In the upper areas from the middle part of Wakaguri Chuo (Photo) had poor visibility because of the heavy snow and thick fog. The groomed slope of Wakaguri Chuo was nicely firm. However, the 1-2cm fresh snow topped on the slope braked down my skis, so I could not get high speed.

“I always check your reports! This wet snow is sticky, but it is good for my kids to practice skiing”, a father from Hyogo Pref. talked to me (Center on Photo). Tomorrow is the 3rd Sunday in January and it will be “Ski Kid’s Day”, so children under 13 years old will be free of charge. By the way, “Kid’s Event” which was scheduled to be held today on Jan. 16 (Sat), Feb. 20 (Sat) and Mar. 20 (Sat) has been cancelled to avoid the pandemic of Coronavirus.
