Hakuba Norikura / △45cm / Snowy2020.Mar.24
Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort was closed today. It opened 10 days later and closed one week earlier than last year. According to the official announcement, we had the deepest snow of this season on Feb, 11 (Tue); 155cm. However, it was only half compared to the last season; 290 cm. It was snowing lightly in the morning and the snow turned wet around 10 a.m.

The loose granular snow was compacted, covered with 1~2 cm of soft fresh snow in Wakaguri Rinkan Course. There was sufficient snow in the upper and middle areas and I enjoyed skiing down. However, I felt we should take skis/snowboards off and walk around the lift station because some bushes and ground were exposed until yesterday, although they were covered with snow today.

“We came by bullet train from Osaka by way of Kanazawa. It was about a seven-hour trip. We couldn’t snowboard yesterday because we arrived around 6 p.m.”, four snowboarders from Wakayama said. Free bus service between Tsugaike and Hakuba47 is available for people who check-out between March 24 (Tue) and April 1 (Wed) (Free, two-round trips per day).

I saw a patrolman in the early morning. “We’ve been suffering from lack of snow this year. I had such a long season.”, he said. This is our last report as the ski resort is closed. Thank you all for coming. See you next season!
