“ROOTS JAM Hakuba Norikura” is held in Satomi Wakaguri Access Line today and tomorrow. The half pipe which had been used in JSBA Japan Competition has come back!! Before the event started, I saw the participants hiked up and inspected the course as warming-up.

Today, the first day, is Jam Session. There were mainly snowboarders, but some people jumped into the half pipe with skis and snow skates. People made shouts and noise when someone showed high jumps and beautiful tricks.

Because of the rain yesterday, the snow was a little hard but it got melting gradually as time passed. There were also guest riders, such as Mr. Miyawaki, a snowboarder who was a member of Japan National Team at Salt Lake City Olympic in 2002. Tomorrow, Classic Halfpipe Contest will be held with the 4 categories, Roots, Open, Ladies and Beginner.

The snow which was falling in the early morning stopped and the sky was overcast at around 10:00 a.m. The slopes looked not to be damaged by the rain yesterday and the groomed slopes of Satomi One and Satomi Chuo were nicely firm. By the way, there was about 10cm snowfall in Sky View in the top of the ski area.
