Cortina / ◎330cm / Snowy2017.Jan.24
The snow from Jan. 21 (Sat) has brought a heavy snowfall to the north areas of HAKUBA VALLEY. The official snow amount jumped up to 330cm!! The amount on the same day in the last year was 180cm, so we have 150cm more snow already. It was snowing heavily this morning as well and people rushed into the powdery snow as soon as the lifts were open.
[Mt. Hieda-one Course]
The snowfall from yesterday was 40cm in the ungroomed upper areas. In Mt. Hieda Course 3, the snow was almost over my knees and it was very fluffy. I felt very cold because of the chilly wind, but the good snow made me excited.
[Mt. Hieda Course 3]
Some visitors got their whole bodies white with snow when they slowed down suddernly. The slope under the fresh snow was soft, so I could ski comfortably in spite of some bumps. This course is wide from the top to the bottom, so we could choose where to go easily.
[Mt. Hieda Course 3]
The groomed slopes of Ikenota and Ippon-matsu Course were soft and flat. Both of courses were covered with 10cm fresh snow and spray of snow was raised every time we made turns. Though today was a weekday, No.2 Quad had a line at around 9:30 a.m.
