Mt. Hakuba Norikura / Sunny2021.Jul.18
After the rainy season was over on July 16 (Fri), we are having 2 sunny days straightly on July 17 (Sat) and 18 (Sun). I came back to Tenguppara (Photo) which is in the bright green season now for the first time after the lower part of last October. A lot of flowers of Watasuge and Iwaichou were blooming there, Hiougiayame just started to bloom and Chinguruma passed its peak already.

The clear blue sky invited me to the summit of Mt. Hakuba Norikura (2,456m). By the way, there was remaining snow in the trail before Tenguparra for 30 meters, in the beginning part of the east face of Mt. Hakuba Norikura for 30 meters, in the middle part for 50 meters and in the end part for 100 meters long. However, I did not need crampons even in the longest 100 meter part in the end.

I could find Kibanashakunage, Ibukijakousou, Gozentachibana and Iwakagami in some parts where the snow already disappeared. The strong sunlight and steep trail with huge rocks in the east face made me so sweaty. As mentioned above, I did not need crampons on the remaining snow in the end part for 100 meters long (Photo), but it was steep and long, so some people were taking crampons on their way back down to the village.

I reached the summit of Mt. Hakuba Norikura from Ropeway Summit Station after 2 hours and 40 minutes. 4 people who came down from Hakuba Oike (Photo) said, “We stayed for one night after trekking from Hakuba Daisekkei to Mt. Hakuba. Today, we came here after reaching Mt. Korenge and Hakuba Oike. We are so happy because we have this beautiful weather and met Raichou (Rock Ptarmigan)!” (*Continue to Trekking Report)
