The new boardwalk makes it more fun to walk. Major boardwalk maintenance was conducted between Ukishima Marsh, Yase Ridge, Tenbo Marsh and Mosen-ike Pond in Tsugaike Nature Park from Jul.10 (Tue) till Oct.26 (Fri). Even after the winter season, it was still clean enough for comfortable walk.

The steep steps at Yase Ridge are now easy to walk as it has become much flatter. The strong wind blowing up the southern slope of Yase Ridge was cold, which made me feel the change of the season.

The renovated deck at Tenbo Marsh was crowded with people having a seat and taking breaks. The new boardwalk between Mosen-ike Pond and Tenbo Marsh is really nice (in the photo), however, you still have to walk on some bare parts and step over roots.

I found lots of Oyama Rindo, a major kind of alpine plants during early autumn, along the course connecting each marsh through the forest. At Ukishima Marsh, there were many Sarashina Shoma, Torikabuto and Iwashobu as well.

It was cloudy in the early morning but the sun started to appear around 9 a.m. I saw the blue sky to the southeast but the ridge of Hakuba Sanzan was kept hidden in the clouds and fog rising from the west. By the way, please be careful not to twist your ankle at Watasuge Marsh as some parts of the boardwalk are tilted.
