Hakuba Oike/ Cloudy & Sunny2018.Oct.12
The temperature was only +5℃ at Tsugaike Visitor Center just before 9am. The low pressure area traveled east, which brought a cold air mass. We didn’t have snow, however, it was chilly and I felt like as if it was at the beginning of winter. Anyway, it was nice for trekking and I reached Tengubara without drinking plenty of water. The autumn leaves were almost over around the marsh over there.

The sun appeared as I reached Tengubara. I took off my jacket on my way to climb the eastern slope of Mt. Hakuba Norikura, as it was hot. The coloured leaves were pretty in the middle area of the eastern slope.

There was a strong northerly wind while I went to the top area of Mt. Hakuba Norikura to Hakuba Oike, which cooled down my sweaty body. Hakuba Oike was wavy and the clouds were raced from north to south across the sky.

On Oct. 8 (Mon, a public holiday), Sarukuraso, Hakubadake Chojo Syukusya, and Harinoki Koya in Hakuba Oike Sanso were closed for this summer. By the way, there were lots of muddy parts and puddles on the trail between Tsugaike Visitor Center and Hakuba Oike Sanso due to the rain until yesterday.

“This is our last time to go to Hakuba Sanso because it will close on Oct. 13 (Sat.)”, two visitors said. They headed for Mt. Korenge, protecting themselves perfectly against the cold. Hakubayari-Onsen Koya, Hakubashiri Koya, Kiretto Koya, Shinkoshi Sanso, and Osawa Koya were closed during September in Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range. On the other hand, Goryu Sanso, Katamatsudake-Chojo Sanso and Kazehuki Sanso will be closed along with Hakuba Sanso on Oct.13 (Sat), while Tsumetaike Sanso and Taneike Sanso will be closed on Oct.14 (Sun). (※ Happo-ike Sanso opens throughout a year. Tsugaike-Hyutte and Tsugaike Sanso will be closed on Oct. 20 and 31, respectively. )
