The Japanese government eased domestic travel restrictions on Friday, June 19, and visitors are returning to Happo One Nature Trail. Summer is just around the corner and more and more flowers are blooming. Mizubasho was out of bloom, while Harurindo and Watasuge were blooming around Kamaike Marsh reflecting Hakuba Sanzan (pictured).

It was cool (+17 degrees). I felt refreshed, walking the mountain trail and enjoying the great view in the nice breeze (pictured). Looking back, I saw Mt. Asama, Mt. Azumaya, Mt. Togakushi, and Mt. Myoko in the east. The top part of the boardwalk was still closed, although the snow was melting（※Boardwalk usually fully opens in early July).

I saw a lot of flowers of Miyama-azumagiku, a kind of alpine plants, along the nature trail (photo). Happo-usuyukiso, belonging to the edelweiss family, Happo-takanesenburi, Mushitori-sumire, Kijimushiro, Yukiwariso, Harurindo, and a few Nikko-kisuge flowers were in bloom, too.
[Shakuji Cairn ~ No.2 Cairn, Happo One Nature Trail]
Snow pieces were thawing in Happo-ike Pond, floating away from the bank on the No.3 Cairn side. Miyama-azumagiku, Shojobakama, Harurindo, and Kijimushiro flowers were blooming. Chinguruma were also in bloom, although they were already past their peak. The restrooms near No.2 Cairn are open from Wednesday, June 10.
