Sanosaka / ◎150cm / Sunny2021.Feb.28

Sanosaka was opened for the first time for sunrise skiing/snowboarding. It was still dark at 5:30 am before Castle Plaza opened (pictured). I parked my car and walked to Carving Slope, shining LED light on the ground. No.2 and 3 Quad began operation on time at 6 am and the day broke.

Granular snow was tightly packed on Family Slope (pictured). It was so quiet I only heard
the sound of edging. For your information, the early morning skiing/snowboarding ticket is 2,000 yen (*valid from 6 to 8 am). It costs 5,000 yen if you add the three-hour ticket (*valid from 6 am to 11 am), and 6,300 yen (adults) / 5,500 yen (secondary school students) / 4,400 yen (children) if you add the one-day ticket (valid from 6 am to 3:30 pm). They are all available only at the ticket counter.

I saw a group of 20 skiers and snowboarders around No.3 Quad station before sunrise. “We’re all working around the Hakuba area, at hotels, schools, shops, and places like that. What a beautiful sunrise it is!”, I made small talk with the three ladies pictured. Everyone seemed impressed with the beautiful sunrise.

The slope was pink before sunrise, then turned pale yellow and white. Groomed granular snow was a little bit loose in the morning sunlight on Lakedown Course (pictured in the third photo) and on Paradise Slope (pictured).
