The last 3 days has been marked by calm, clear weather.
On this morning I met a group of five friends at the top of Sanosaka (from Yokohama, Suwa, Omachi and Hakuba) who got connected through their shared love of ramen, golf and skiing. They unanimously informed me kindly that they always check our homepage.
By now it was already 10:00 a.m. and the sun was shining strongly in the sky, but the temperatures remained surprisingly mild.

With the exception of the areas directly under the No. 5 Pair lift and off to skier’s left, the groomed conditions of the New Paradise slope (pictured) could be described as moderately packed wet snow. What seemed to best mostly advanced skiers and boarders, including a demo/racing team, were flying down the slope at high speed. The Paradise slope and Paradise Downhill slope featured similar conditions underfoot, but less people.

The Lake Down course was also groomed, but with small clumps of snow across the surface of the early part of the run (pictured), which luckily didn’t have much of an effect on skiing.
In contrast, the perfect post-grooming corduroy grooves on the wide and flat Family slope remained undisturbed.
Overall, both courses were well-packed and conditions were very good.

A staff member of the ski resort taking advantage of his day off to enjoy time on the slopes (pictured, left), called out to us, “We always appreciate your work and your site! The views and conditions today are awesome, right? Last season my wife (pictured, right) broke her hip while snowboarding, so now we’re doing some ‘rehabilitation boarding’.”
Be careful, don’t overdo it and get well soon!
