This morning I met two customers who had utilized the HAKUBA S-CLASS priority pass to ride the gondola and get to the top of the resort prior to the public opening time. They explained to me that it was their first time at Iwatake in 35 years and that after taking a few runs they’d like to go and check out the HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR.It was a beautiful sunny morning with almost no wind, which made for a great day to be outside.

Thanks to the new snow that started falling on the afternoon of 2/7 (Sun.) and continued into yesterday, along with the surface of the slopes cooling considerably overnight, there were excellent fine powder snow conditions for this morning’s freshly-groomed runs all the way down to the Paradise Slope at the bottom of the resort!Conditions were fantastic on the South Slope (pictured) allowing for smooth and speedy turns.

Compared to the South Slope, the groomed surface of the Sawa Course (pictured) felt a little softer while the Paradise Slope seemed slightly firmer. There were few visitors on the Sawa Course early on, so only a few solitary tracks could be seen drawn across the snowy canvas.

At around 8:00 a.m. there was a blanket of clouds draped across the high mountaintops of the Northern Alps, but just after 9:00 a.m. when I returned to the top, views of the three major “Hakuba Sanzan” peaks (pictured) had opened up.Now until the 28th of February (Sun.),residents of Nagano Prefecture, Itoigawa City and Joetsu City can take advantage of Iwatake’s “Northern Alps Scenic Sightseeing Campaign”. This promotion applies to those visiting the resort for sightseeing, and discounts the round trip gondola price all the way down to 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children.
