2 people who gave me a greeting, “We always check your reports!” also talked, “Because the situation is very hard for ski areas due to Coronavirus now, so we come skiing to help them.” As it was forecast to be warm like mid-March and upper-April, we had a warm and calm morning on this Saturday.
[South]
The groomed slopes of South (First photo) and Gezan Course (Photo) were in almost corn snow condition in which the powdery snow was slightly mixed. When I skied into Sunny Valley Course after Gezan Course, the slope got hard with corn snow with ice balls. In Paradise and Big Bahn (Third photo), the surface of groomed slopes of corn snow already melted even before 9:00 a.m.
[Gezan Course]
2 people from Kyoto University (Photo) gave me a greeting, “We always check your reports! This year, only the Open Division (Individual) is held, but we are still looking forward to joining it!” “Student Ski Competition IWATAKE (Demo Ski Division)” is planned to be held from Feb. 22 (Mon) to Feb. 26 (Fri), but whether it will be held or not is decided on Feb. 15 (Mon).
[Big Bahn]
In the groomed slopes of the upper areas, the proportion of the powdery and corn snow was changed depending on the direction which the slopes face to. As mentioned above, the slope of South was almost corn snow, but we could find more powdery snow parts in Sawa (Photo) and East, so they were better for cruising. The ski area got busy earlier than the last weekend because of the university students and lowering the emergency level to 2 in Nagano.
