This winter, “Student Ski Competition IWATAKE” is held with a restriction due to Coronavirus, so only “Open (Indivisual) Division” is open for “Demo Skiing Division” and “Alpen Skiing Division”. Today, the members of college skiing teams were practicing hard for “Demo Skiing Division” which will be held from Feb. 22 (Mon) to Feb. 26 (Fri).

The groomed slopes of Kamoshika Course (Photo) and Paradise (First Photo) were nicely firm with fine corn snow and topped with 2cm fresh snow. The edges of my skis worked very well there, so I could enjoy carving comfortably.

In the slight snowing, it was hardly blowing a wind, but sometimes foggy thickly and lightly. A man (Photo) who gave me a greeting, “I always check your reports!” also talked, “I planned to go to Sawa Course for my first ride today, but I changed my mind and came here because this slope is good.” Then he snowboarded down into SONEZAWA.

In the off-piste areas of SONEZAWA (Third Photo) and Hill Top, we could enjoy the fluffy feel of 15cm fresh snow on the soft slope. South (Photo), East and Sawa Course were groomed well and nicely firm. When I skied down to Sunny Valley Course which had 2cm fresh snow, the snow of the groomed slope changed into corn snow.
