Hakuba Iwatake / ◎140cm / Snowy & Cloudy2020.Dec.31
On the New Year’s Eve in 2020, a lot of people came up to the summit area of Iwatake. South was groomed well and its nicely firm slope with thin fresh snow on it was good for cruising. Although the slope had many people, it did not matter to skiing thanks to the very wide slope.
[South]
A father from Nagano City gave me a greeting, “I always check your reports! This season, I try to pick up close ski areas due to the pandemic. Today is the first day to snowboard for my 5 year old son!” It was snowing lightly with the thin fogs. However, the sky was getting brighter and the snow stopped as I skied down to the bottom area.

The groomed slope of Sunny Valley Course was firmer than South. The condition was good from the beginning to the end, so we could ski comfortably. Kometsuga Course which meets Sunny Valley Course in the middle had much less people.

At 11:00 a.m, the lower part of Iwatake Snow Field had the soft sunlight. In Paradise area, the groomed part was firm and the off-piste area was fluffy with 15cm fresh snow. The parking areas were already full at 10:00 a.m, so when our reporter arrived there, the parking area staff guided me to park my car at the entrance.
