The rain, which had fallen since yesterday, turned to sleet around 8:30 a.m.. It further changed into snow containing moisture, and it was snowing in earnest at 10:30 a.m.. Satomi Chuo Slope, which was well-groomed, contains rainwater and was soft. The deep turning tracks on the slope gradually got covered with the falling snow and were disappearing.

There was about 3 cm of wet new snow on the groomed soft granular snow on Highway Course, which was not crowded. The snow was a bit heavy and skis were not running well. However, it was not bad because it wasn’t rough.

Rabbit Course was a bit rough because the granular snow, which was brought together by edges, and the falling wet snow got together on the course. The instructors of Hakuba Norikura Ski School and advanced skiers and snowboarders were running smoothly, while it seemed hard for those who were novice or intermediate.

The temperature gradually dropped and there was a strong northerly wind blowing intermittently, which made me feel chilly. Wakaguri Chuo Slope was rough as well. The high-school twin sisters from Osaka said, “We come to Hakunori every year with my parents, but this time, we came on our own by bus!”
