Cortina / ◎280cm / Snowy2021.Jan.09

We had the first weekend (= a three-day holiday) since Japan’s government declared a state of emergency for Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures. Skiers and snowboarders were waiting in line for the first No.2 Quad (pictured), even though the resort saw fewer visitors compared to last year. “Almost all courses (=80% of the area) are now open in Cortina as No.3 started its operation today.

It had been snowing silently since the day before yesterday. The ungroomed Ikenota Slope was moderately firm, covered with about 3 cm of light new snow (pictured)! I enjoyed carving tracks on the snow.

The top and middle area of Rabbit Course got 25~30 cm of new snow last night. The snow was knee-deep today (pictured) and I fully enjoyed the powder snow. The course was calm, while Hiedayama was lively. In the bottom area, the groomed snow felt soft.

I enjoyed skiing down the steep slope of Snake Course, blanketed with a great amount of powder snow this morning. The powder snow was excellent not only on Rabbit Course but also on the steep ungroomed slope of Kamoshika Course.
