It was a great day for skiing and snowboarding. The compacted slope with powder snow made a squeaking sound when I stepped on or skated on. I saw lecturers at Cortina Ski School and advanced skiers/snowboarders warming-up at the compacted Ipponmatsu Slope, soon after the slope opened.

People arrived early, although it was after the first three days of the new year. One-day parking area was almost full around 9 am. The Northern Alps looked beautiful from No.3 Quad or No.1 Pair Station and many people slid down after taking a photo. “I enjoy your reports and now I finally see you!”, a man coming from Kobe City, Hyogo, told me.

The powder snow was perfect at flat Rabbit Course and Snake Course like Ipponmatsu Course, although they face south. My skis ran well and the edges cut into the snow. I saw people making beautiful hand-slide turns, bending their body.

The wide Ikenota Slope was well-compacted and perfect. There were ups and downs at the non-compacted Hiedayama Course1, 2, 3 and Itadaira Course, however, they were nice to try with dry, soft snow. There was about 2-3 minute waiting line for No.2 Quad as of 9:30.
