The weather over the final two days of the September 3-day weekend was perfect for getting outside, with plenty of sunshine and a cool, refreshing breeze. Iwatake allows pets to ride the gondola with their owners, and on these days many people could be seen together with their dogs. It’s permissible to let dogs off their leash inside the free dog run area alongside Sky Arc (pictured), and a number of happy pets were running about freely.

Of course, it’s also possible to spend time with pets in the terrace seating area of HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured). In related news, Iwatake is scheduled to hold an event here called ‘IWATAKE OCTOBER FESTIVAL,’ which will take place on Saturdays between 10/2 (Sat.) ～ 10/23 (Sat.), and feature 4 artists including Mr. Moi and Rei Yamada.

Conditions on the Hakuba Iwatake MTB PARK trails first thing this morning were semi dry. The Alps Downhill course seemed to be the most popular choice amongst the many riders present, though occasionally some could be seen taking the more technical and difficult Kamikaze Downhill Course (pictured). I talked to a group of 3 people out for the day from Niigata Prefecture who told me they had mountain bike season passes and were frequent visitors, or as they called it, “heavy users.”

The grassy lawn surrounding the Scenic Picnic Lounge (pictured), with an assist from the fantastic weather, looked like a comfortable place to spend some time. A new scenic area is set to open at the bottom of this same slope (South Slope) in late October, and will be called ‘Hakuba Hitotoki no Mori.’ The tea latte and scone speciality shop CHAVATY HAKUBA will open its first Nagano area shop here, and new MTB and Mountain Cart trails leading to the area will also be opened.
