The end of rainy season came on Jul.29 (Mon) and it’s the hottest season of the year at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR. The terrace (in the photo) is a great place to chill out in the fresh mountain air as it faces to the west and is shaded in the morning. Tarps are also set up on the northern side to block the sunlight. The deck was wet and cool today thanks to the rain last night.

Much snow has melted along the ridge and Ushiro Tateyama Mountain Range is getting dark green. I was impressed with the magnificent view of 3,000 m – class mountains at the tip of the deck. It was hot and the summer clouds were hanging over the ridge.

There is a deck in the beech forest at the mountain top. You can use it for free to take a rest, to bring your own lunch box and eat, or to have breads or something to drink you grab at THE CITY BAKERY. “Outdoor Cooking Lunch” service using one-burner is also available. (1,500 yen per person. No reservation required. Limited amount.)

You can rent electric mountain bikes (e-MTBs) at the guide center. The rental fee is 2,000 yen per hour. (Helmet included. No sandals / flip flops permitted. Only available for middle age students or above.) If you don’t like uphill courses or if you are just interested in e-MTBs, please try it. You can ride e-MTBs at Mountain Cycling Course or at the first part of VIEW C Course.

Many people started to go down Alps Down Hill Course around 10 a.m. Some intermediate/advanced level riders went lightly and some families posed for photos while running. “Downhill” course may sound difficult but you, even MTB beginners, will adequately enjoy as long as you keep your pace.
