Hakuba Iwatake / Sunny2018.Oct.21

18102001_iwatakeOn Sunday, 10/21/18, it was a clear and sunny day – a picture perfect day for Iwatake’s autumn leaves. At around 11:30 AM, there was already a long line for the gondola. Visitors were enjoying stunning views of golden beech trees overlooking Hakuba village at end of the gondola stop.

18102002_iwatakeThe terrace of HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR was packed with hikers. They were enjoying themselves, taking photographs of the magnificent views of Hakuba-Sanzan (Mount Hakuba, Mount Shakushi, and Mount Yari), and its famous “three-stage” autumn leaves. At THE CITY BAKERY, they were enjoying homemade baked breads and coffee.

18102003_iwatakeThe views of the autumn leaves were still worth braving the clouds and rain on Saturday, October 20th. Hikers were excited to see Mount Hakuba’s peak, which suddenly appeared between the clouds at around 2 PM.

18102004_iwatakeThere was a live performance as part of the “Jazz Live at Tenku in HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR” series between 1:30 – 4 PM. This time, Oratorio, featuring Yuji Goto (sax & fl), Sakuma Kazu (gt), and Taku Yamamoto (p) played to the delight of the audience. “Eli My Live,” a hit song by Southern All Stars, was requested. The audience loved the song and enjoyed their cozy afternoon.

18102005_iwatakeAt the Beech Forest Trail, Azumaya in Nezuko no Mori, autumn leaves were at their best and displaying magnificent shades of red, yellow, and orange. The color of the autumn leaves reach up to Paradise Slope, and visitors can take in that view while riding the gondola.
