This is the report of “without lilies and mountain bikes”. It was hot under the strong sunlight but I felt cool in the shade of trees. Beech Forest Walking Trail was really nice with the gentle breeze. You can enjoy slacklining and hammock set in the trees here.

In addition to benches with sunshades, there are hammock stands and camp chairs in front of Sky Arch. I relaxed and enjoyed the view of the Northern Alps, scenery of Hakuba Village, Yatsugatake Mountains and the Southern Alps far away. I saw lots of families with children because it was the summer holiday.

The handmade candle workshop (shown in the photo, JPY2,500 an hour) is held at the guide center in Sky Arch. You can make your original candle, putting acorns, beads, marbles, artificial flowers etc. in gel materials. You can also enjoy joining craft workshop (JPY500) or making photo frame.

The sun went behind clouds, which had covered the northern sky, and the sky gradually got dull. A lady from Tokyo with her pet dog, Moca-chan, said to me, “I suddenly felt like coming to Hakuba by car at midnight. And then I came to the top of Iwatake, reading Snownavi’s reports!”

Pump track for striders, which was used in Happo on July 28 (Sat), was relocated next to Iwatake Gondola Bottom Station and has been available from July 30 (Mon). It is for children of elementary school age (they must be accompanied with adults) and the fee is JPY500 (8:30–16:00). For your information, there is no rental service for striders, so please bring your own one.
