Hakuba Iwatake, a well-known place of mountain biking, has come back again!! In this season, Beginners Downhill Course and Summit Tour Course are newly open, besides Downhill, Cross Country, Dual Pump Track and Fun Ride and the park has been renamed “Hakuba Iwatake MTB PARK”. More and more rental equipment is available and MTB Season Pass (Adult JPY40,000 and etc.) is on sale now.

By the way, we had had a terribly heavy rain since July 1, when Iwatake was open, because of the front over Japan and the 3rd typhoon (Nanmadol). Finally, the blue sky started to spread at around 9:00 a.m. this morning…. This year, the lilies are later for blooming than the last year and I found the flowers only in some parts. (The left part of the photo is Dual Pump Track & Fun Ride Course)

Near the lower station of Rai Pair in Up Bahn, I saw orange lilies. In Red Pine Forest, there were yellow and pink lilies blooming.

Paradise Area was still covered with green. Stems and leaves of the lilies looked very fresh and it made me expect that they will show us beautiful flowers soon. In the garden, some paths were muddy, so it is better to take waterproof walking shoes.

During the summer season, Sky Arc is open as a restaurant in the summit area. “Ten Zaru-soba” is one of the recommended menus here. The soba noodles are made here and served with tempura of lily bulb, shrimp and vegetables of Hakuba. “Steak Ju (Steak and rice, JPY1,980)”, a new dish in this season, has also started.
