It was cloudy in the early morning, however, it cleared by Gondola started working at 8 a.m. I was able to overlook the mountain foot when I arrived at Happo-ike Sanso around 8:20 by using Gondola and the lift. The temperature was a bit higher today than yesterday and I sweat on my back during trekking.

More plants have turned yellow for the last few days between Boardwalk and Happo Cairn. The red of Okamenoki and Nanakamado as well as the yellow of maple was standing out in the green trees, which was signalling the coming of autumn.

The season for alpine plants is now getting over and the season for autumn leaves is coming at Happo One Nature Trail. I still found Oyama Rindo (in the photo) and Miyama Akino Kirinso on my way to Happo-ike Pond, where the thaw set in late. Meanwhile, I also found flowers of early autumn, including Miyama Kogomekusa, Yama Hotaru Bukuro, and Nokongiku when I was walking along Boardwalk (shown in the first photo).

“We enjoy your reports. It’s a beautiful day today! We’ll go to Mt. Karamatsu today, as far away as possible… (haha)”, a visitor coming from Hakuba Village and another from Matsumoto City said. According to the weather forecast, it will be sunny again tomorrow. I saw many climbers carrying backpacks, who’ll probably stay in a tent or at a mountain hat.

“Plants and leaves are changing color fast here than Ue-no-kaba”, a visitor came down from Mt. Karamatsu said. For your information, “Usagidaira Autumn Leaves Festival” will be held at outdoor special site at Usagidaira Terrace on Sep.28 (Sat) and 29 (Sun). There will be snack stalls, beverage stalls, activity areas, e.t.c. On Sep.28 (Sat) Hula show will be held at Mountain Beach from 2:30 p.m, and on Sep.29 (Sun) Shinano-no-Kuni Matsukawa Kyogaku Drum performance will be held from 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
