The weather has been fine at the foot, however, it has been cloudy at the top since July 10 (Tue). Nikkokisuge was at their best from Jul. 8 (Sun) at Kamaike Marsh and it looked like a yellow carpet this morning. I heard people who were heading for Grat Quad saying “How beautiful it is!” “There are lots of flowers blooming this year!”

Afterwards the sun appeared, which made Kamaike Marsh more gorgeous. There were much more people compared to the last report. I expect more and more people will come because the lifts will open in the early morning from tomorrow.

The gentle breeze blowing at Kamaike Marsh got stronger in the upper area. As I went over Happo Cairn, I almost lost my hat because of the wind. Trees were growing thick and green at Shimo-no-kaba. Summer trail between Shimo-no-kanba and and Kami-no-kanba (shown in the photo) was completely passable, although it was still covered with snow on the last report on June 17 (Sun).

As I went over Kami-no-kanba, the visibility got a bit poor because of clouds. The sunshine got weaker and the strong wind was cool under the influence of snow left just before Maruyama Cairn, which enabled to cool down.

The wind was blowing more strongly at Maruyama Cairn. I saw thick clouds hanging over the ridgeline of the Northern Alps. It takes about 30-40 min from here to Katamatsu-dake Chojo Sanso. I saw people retie shoelaces or having some snacks to prepare for the unstable rocky area.
